COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT (CFCD)

Report -- April, 2013.

Baby Timothy to Be Operated Next Month June 2013.

Our God is good because he cares for everybody. In our last report to hope4kids, I talked about a boy called Timothy who was born with cleft pallets and he has candle burns. In some cultures here, some people look at it as a bad omen to produce a child with a body deformity. In most cases, men tend to abandon their women when they find themselves in such a situation. They can’t provide any help to them and they leave them to suffer with children who are born disabled. In Tororo area where our ministry is located, this habit is so rampart and it needs patience to change the mindset of some men who blame everything on women.

For example it becomes hard for a man to accept that in his lineage there are sickle cells. When they (couple) produce a child who has sickle cells, the man abandons the child and the mother because it is the woman who brought the sickle cell case in the family.

To them, everything in a family is brought by a woman. The mother of Timothy was equally facing such challenges when he bore him with cleft pallets. Although the man himself is too poor not to afford buying a tin of milk formula, he had abandoned his young wife to suffer with the baby at Tororo hospital without any help. At least food for the mother to help her produce milk to suckle the baby. The baby can’t suckle well because of the open lips but at least she would be able to squeeze some (milk) in his mouth.

Thanks be to God who gave us a ministry of reconciliation! We visited the man in his village and we counseled him. Iam happy that the man realized that such cases have a cause and it is biological. It is good that now the father in his poverty he can at least carry the baby with hope that the condition will be reversed.

Indeed our God cares for his people. Because of good working relationship with the medical staff. One of the doctors when making a ward round met this lady and he had to interrogate her. The young lady told him her challenges and it was horrible. She had been abandoned by the husband, nothing to eat or drink and she had to make sure that the baby had milk. When our volunteer staff reached the hospital to check on the baby and the mother, both of them were starving and the baby was headed for death. Christian Foundation did what it could to help the baby and the mother survive. We bought food and millet flour for poriadge to help the mother generate milk to feed the baby. We also bought Sma gold milk formula for the baby. This baby also had candle burns and he was in great pain. Because he is a baby, he could not turn or sit but he would only cry. You would really see the pain that he had and innocently as he is, he could make you to cry tears.

We thank God because of our Drug dispensing program. This baby had to benefit from it and the burns were treated. He is still surviving and our ministry is still providing him with milk formula.

Usual Activities

In our usual activities, God has continued to do great things. People who don’t know Jesus accepted in both prison and hospitals and we have continued to take relief in these places. Besides that, we have continued to support the sick with drugs and cooking food for admitted children and poor patients. May the Lord bless you all for your continued support.
